CANICIO® is synonymous with purity , freedom and depth . Each of the characters in our movies reflect our identity.
We are committed to storytelling as a way to show how we perceive the world, without forgetting the importance of caring for it. Since the beginning of the project, we have wanted each step , no matter how small, to be one more step towards a more sustainable planet .
CANICIO®
The project was born at the end of September 2023, on a trip to Menorca with university friends. Although, to tell the truth, the idea had already been around for a few years.
The Balearic island is a true source of inspiration . Its people and places are unique. In addition, it is the cradle of artisans , as it is where each of our Menorcan sandals is made by hand.
The brand focuses on casual fashion based on long days of surfing on the beach. We think it's time for you surfers to stop going barefoot through life.
FACTORY
Located in the area of Ciudadela (Ciutadella), the umbrella factory is the essence of CANICIO®. This is where each of our Menorquinas is made, in a completely artisanal way.
Our formula is simple . Always, "shoemaker, to your shoes." And, therefore, the Menorcan in Menorca . We are very proud to be able to have factories in which their artisans know the know-how perfectly and have the imperative purpose of achieving an impeccable finish.
We thank the island, its people, its customs and its crafts. A delicious designation of origin .
Both we and all our collaborators are dedicated to telling stories in a pure , free and profound way, as well as aesthetically pleasing and with a certain touch of humor.
We are very film buffs and, as such, we wanted to unify cinematography and surf fashion in the same project.
Cinema and fashion are two very, very creative fields and, that is why we are always looking for talents , people and inspiring stories .
STORYTELLING
How did the story of Mary and Gabriel come about? It's based on real events?
This story has been inspired and motivated by the brand's own mission and vision . In it, there are several crucial elements to understand the concept of the project:
- Location . The scenes were filmed on the beach in Elche (Alicante), from where we worked and carried out this project.
- Surf . The great motivator of the brand. A concept in itself: activity , altruism and, of course, good vibes .
- Destination . We are certain that everything happens for a reason. And if you are reading this right now, it is because you are about to get the perfect sandals for this summer.
- Love at first sight. It happens like when we visited the island of Menorca, it was love in the first moment.
